Job Summary

Main Functions: 1. Service Management – Oversee mechanical condition and maintenance of Anderson Transport vehicles. – Ensure high-quality workmanship in service departments. – Plan work within the service department and manage parts purchasing. – Enforce safety policies, maintain safety records, and control workshop expenditures. – Authorize and inspect work, minimize vehicle turnaround time, and ensure roadworthiness. 2. Repairs and Service of Trailers – Perform repairs, maintenance, and major services on trailers per guidelines. – Report faults and perform quality checks on trailers. – Handle welding works as needed. 3. QC and Assist with Truck Tractor Repairs – Assist with truck repairs and maintenance. – Supervise workshop tasks, provide guidance to co-workers, and ensure safety. – Perform quality checks on vehicles in the depot. 4. Managing the Tyre Department – Purchase new tyres and manage after-hour breakdowns. – Monitor tyre conditions and approve invoices. – Liaise with suppliers for best prices and handle tyre maintenance. 5. Welding Department – Execute welding tasks for repairs, alterations, and construction of vehicles and trailers. – Perform related bending tasks. 6. Personnel Management – Recruit, train, and develop service department personnel. – Implement performance management processes and ensure workforce discipline. – Plan personnel needs and oversee training for apprentices and mechanics. 7. General Duties – Be available for after-hour functions and attend daily meetings. – Develop and monitor service department budget. – Stay updated with industry developments and investigate queries. 8. Administration – Authorize invoices for outwork and parts. 9. Requisition – Write spares requisitions based on mechanics“ needs.
