Job Summary
Responsibilities:
– Assist engineers, technologists, and associates in field, laboratory, and technical office activities. – Interpret engineering test methodologies in accordance with relevant standards. – Evaluate existing and new technical manuals, and construction drawings, and submit for evaluation and approval by the relevant authority. – Perform, document, and evaluate the acceptability of construction materials used in structures and road construction. – Compile and maintain records of all testing performed in the field and laboratory. – Resolve issues with the Contractor and Engineer, regarding non-compliance with materials specifications. – Be able to function effectively in a team environment. – Support Engineers Representative (Resident Engineer) in delivering the project in line with quality requirements. – Apply Site Management System based on ISO 9001 QMS. – Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and client relation skills. – Good analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills. – Valid drivers license (minimum code B), and own transport Qualifications & Experience: – Minimum NDip/BTech in Civil Engineering. – Candidate should have a minimum of 7 – 8 years` experience working as a materials technician – Candidate must be registered as a Professional Technologist or Technician in Civil Engineering, with a minimum of 5 Years experience in construction materials monitoring. – Advanced knowledge in material testing and material evaluation in a laboratory. – Experience in concrete mix development and knowledge of roller-compacted concrete would be beneficial. – Thorough working knowledge of specifications (COLTO, ASTM, TMH, TRH, TG-series, SANS, and other relevant standards.) and Bill of Quantities.
