Job Summary
SA Metal Group has a position for a committed, hardworking and motivated Procurement Buyer to work together with the Procurement Department in Cape Town. The successful applicant will report directly to the National Procurement Manager. Responsibilities will include, but not limited to: Meeting with suppliers and negotiating rates and pricing Maintaining relationship with existing suppliers and sourcing new suppliers Regular review of supplier rates, research the market for best prices (benchmarking) Assisting procurement department with updating of pricing on stock items Provide support and advice to Management and staff in relation to Procurement Ensure that Procurement activities increase the profitability of the company by purchasing material, equipment in timely manner and at the lowest cost and best quality Provide feedback on areas of cost saving and execution thereof Ensure that all purchases are within the budget Oversee preparation, review and process of purchase orders Create purchase orders when required Ensure that all the procurement of material, equipment is approved by executives Ensure that strict procurement processes and procedures are followed within the company’s procurement policies and regulations Liaise with other departments within the organization to establish their material requirement General office administration/ generate and maintain reports Qualifying Criteria Relevant Degree/Diploma in Procurement Management. Minimum three to five years’ previous experience in a procurement environment MS Office knowledge, in particular Excel Accuracy and attention to detail Excellent communication, motivating and problem solving skills Negotiation and networking skills Able to multi task Able to work in team environment Qualifying Attributes: Verbal and written communication skills Ability to work under pressure Customer service orientation Ability to work independently as well as in a team Ability to organize and plan carefully Attention to detail and accuracy Hard-working and self-motivated Time management and organizational skills Excellent standards in execution
