Job Summary

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Formal education in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. Proven experience in transportation planning, logistics coordination, or supply chain management, preferably in a regional or cross-border context. Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, road contract management, customs procedures, and border-crossing requirements in Southern Africa. Excellent negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to drive decision-making. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of other regional languages will be advantageous Organizational skills and time management Autonomous and pro-active Ability to work under pressure and extended working hours as and when required. Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Capacity Planning: Collaborate with in-country operations teams to gather export and import requirements, shipment priorities and create a comprehensive regional capacity plan that meets the needs of each country. Transporter Engagement: Develop and maintain strong relationships with transporters and logistics partners across the region. Source and negotiate truck capacity to ensure sufficient availability for each export and import operation. Truck Allocation: Efficiently allocate available trucks to each country based on their requirements, shipping priorities, and timeframes. Optimize truck usage to improve truck turn around and reduce transportation costs. Optimization Strategies: Devise optimal transportation strategies to maximize load utilisation, minimize transit times, and enhance overall supply chain efficiency. Performance Monitoring: Monitor and track the performance of transporters, including on-time deliveries, adherence to schedules, and service quality. Address any performance issues proactively and implement corrective actions when needed. Reporting: Generate regular reports on capacity planning, truck allocations, and transporter performance. Present data-driven insights and recommendations to the Regional Operations Manager. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Foster effective communication and collaboration between in-country operations teams, warehouses, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure a seamless and coordinated supply chain process. Problem Solving: Identify potential transportation challenges, bottlenecks, and risks. Develop contingency plans and solutions to mitigate disruptions and ensure smooth operations. Market Analysis: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, market dynamics, and regulatory changes affecting transportation and logistics in the Southern Africa region. Utilise this information to enhance decision-making and strategy formulation.
