Job Summary
Machine Tool Fitter x 2 positions available in the Machine Shop. The successful candidates must have extensive machine tool fitting experience in a similar environment (machine shop). The candidates will need to know how to strip and assemble different types of machines and be able to repair breakdowns.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required
- Trade Tested Fitter with 10 years experience.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
- Ability to measure with verniers, micrometers, thread gauges etc.
- Ability to strip and assemble gearboxes.
- Ability to draft a materials list and complete simple sketches and drawings.
- Ability to do routine maintenance and attend to mechanical break downs when required.
- Ability to strip and assemble lead screws and ball screws.
- Must be familiar with setting gibs.
- Must have hydraulics and pneumatics operating machinery experience.
- Must be familiar with electromagnetic and mechanical clutches.
- Must be able to work independently and adhere to deadlines.
- Must have proven ability to do fault finding.
- Understand the safe working procedure of the machines.
- Must be able to adhere to general housekeeping rules.
- Own transport
- Must be able to work shifts.
Minimum Education & Experience required
- Matric or equivalent along with at least 5 years post apprenticeship experience within a Machine Shop.
