Job Summary
Hire Resolves client in the mining industry is urgently seeking the expertise of a Junior Rock Engineer to join their team in the Northern Cape. The successful candidate will be responsible for making observations and measurements. They will also collect data about rock conditions or rock mechanics of the workplace to enable interpretation and recommendations to the mining department. This role extends to conducting strength and compression test analysis for strata control purposes, as well as to compile, implement, and review risk assessments and procedures and COPs (rock-related).
Responsibilities:
Assist rock engineer in performing tasks, living the company values, which include but are not limited to:
- Strata control inspections
- Incident investigation
- Rock engineering input
- Geotechnical data
- Slope stability analysis
- Monitoring
- Limit blast quality assurance/ quality control
- Mining control of special areas
- Compile, implement, and review risk assessments and procedures
- Continuous improvement
- Rock engineering software and numerical modeling
- Internal and external stakeholder relationships
- SHERQ adherence and compliance
- Work Ethics
Responsibilities:
- Electrical Trade Test Certificate
- BSc/BTech in Rock Engineering, Geology, or mining
- Rock Mechanics Certificate
- National Certificate in Strata Control
- At least 5 years of strata control mining experience
