Job Summary

Hire Resolves client in the mining industry is urgently seeking the expertise of a General Manager in Kathu, Northern Cape.

Responsibilities

Responsible for overseeing entire Opencast Mining project/operation and managing all Departments

(Production, Engineering, Safety, Stores & Procurement, HR & Training) with assistance from functional managers/ Dept HODs:

Ensure profitable delivery of Production function and that production targets are met
Oversee engineering function to ensure that 85% machine availability is maintained
Promote & establish a strong Safety Culture and ensure that MHSA provisions and applicable SOPs are adhered to
Oversee Survey and mine planning
Project delivery in accordance with project/mining plan, Contractual stipulations, and KPIs
Act as Co representative and attend all meetings and contractual discussions with the Client
Ensure that all departments are fully staffed as per the approved manpower budget
Ensure that all allocated resources are utilized efficiently and cost-effectively

Requirements

Grade 12
Diploma/Degree in Mining or Civil Engineering
Mine Overseers or Mine Managers ticket
At least 3-5 years of experience in a similar management role
Must have proven ability and track record to achieve production targets in an Opencast Mining Environment
Excellent knowledge of Opencast Mining Techniques and Heavy Earthmoving Equipment utilization
Strong Financial, reporting, and budgeting skills
