Job Summary
Hire Resolve is currently seeking a dedicated and motivated Assistant Occupational Hygiene Officer to join our clients team in the mining industry. As an Assistant Occupational Hygiene Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Occupational Hygiene team in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct workplace assessments to identify health hazards.
- Monitor environmental conditions such as air quality and temperature.
- Collect and analyze data to identify trends and risks.
- Implement control measures to mitigate health risks.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare detailed reports.
- Support and deliver hygiene training for employees.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with health and safety teams and other stakeholders.
- Conduct risk assessments and recommend safety measures.
- Assist in emergency response planning and incidents.
- Provide technical support on occupational hygiene and PPE selection.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
- National Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health, Environmental Health, or related field.
- Certification in Occupational Hygiene (e.g., SAIOH) is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in occupational hygiene or related field, preferably in the mining industry.
- Knowledge of South African occupational health and safety regulations.
- Proficiency in using occupational hygiene monitoring equipment and software.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a team.
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to various sites.
- Physical ability to work in a mining environment.
