Job Summary
SOUS CHEF : UPMARKET WINE ESTATE (PAARL) Our client, an upmarket Estate in Paarl area, is looking to hire an experienced and talented SOUS CHEF to join their team. The position requires a creative and a hands-on approach to food production. We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented Sous Chef with very good interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with guests, with a strong culinary and operational skill set, ability to manage a small team effectively. Event / banqueting experience is essential. The ideal individual is passionate about cooking and cares about a curated guest experience. Experience in a high-end, bistro-style environment. Valid drivers licence and own reliable transport. The key role will be to manage the overall kitchen operation of the propertys Manor House that is able to accommodate up to 12 guests. The position manage a small team and takes charge of breakfast and all other meals and special lunches / dinners that is requested. The Sous Chef will also assist the main bistro style restaurant on the property as and when needed. Minimum Requirements and Key
Responsibilities:
A formal Culinary Education Minimum of 3 -5 years experience as a Sous Chef in a high-end environment Assist with menu planning and costing recipes, food consumption, strict stock controls, stock management, stock movement, rotation and ordering and supplier liaison Excellent control of food cost, wastage and kitchen preparation Ongoing staff training and development Ensuring the team has high standards of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and safety Valid drivers licence Solid track record Matric Key Skills Required: The position requires a creative and a hands-on approach to food production Creative and passionate about the culinary industry Strong operational and administrative skills Ability to lead and manage a team of people effectively Strong management skills, day-to-day, and long-term Excellent interpersonal skills Excellent problem solving skills Resourceful, creative and forward thinking Adaptable to change Computer literate Remuneration: R18 000 R25 000 (Dependant on experience) Start Date: ASAP Due to the high volume of CVs received, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted
