Job Title: Civil Engineer Stormwater Drainage
Location: Gauteng, Tshwane Metro, Pretoria
Job Type: Permanent, expected to work Full-Time hours

Job
Duties:
- Provide design and technical consultation in stormwater drainage fields such as, road drainage design, stormwater drainage systems, culvert design, flood line determination, erosion protection, and water sensitive urban design. You will be responsible for investigation, preliminary and detail design stages as well as technical reports such as hydrological studies and stormwater master and management plans.
- Develop and implement discipline specific technical practices, specifications, and procedures.
- You may be responsible for the development of others through providing guidance, training, and feedback.
- You will be expected to work independently within the drainage engineering space on small and large sized projects and being a key member of larger multidisciplinary project teams. This will include investigation, design, analysis and modelling, technical documentation, cost estimates, tender submissions, and project scheduling.
- You will be responsible for engaging with clients and subconsultants during the planning and execution of projects, including meetings and presentations.
- Provide specialist technical advice to clients.
- Comply with Company procedures and processes in terms of project registration and risk analysis.
- Comply with Quality procedures by ensuring auditable trail of actions during full life cycle of project delivery process all in accordance with company Quality Management Procedures.
- Comply with and embrace Health and Safety requirements in the workplace as well as on construction sites
Required Qualifications:
- BEng, BSc Eng, or BTech degree in Civil Engineering or related field
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in stormwater drainage design
- Experience in managing large stormwater designs in multidisciplinary projects
- Experience in hydrological studies, stormwater master and management plans
- Experience in hydraulic design of stormwater systems
- Experience with design software packages such as Autodesk Civil3D, Civil Designer, HEC
- Experience in compilation of tender documentation, bill of quantities, and cost estimates
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong understanding of stormwater drainage principles and regulations
- Proficiency in design software packages and tools
- Excellent project management skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Able to communicate effective both verbally and written.
- Good command of Microsoft Office package.
- Good presentation skills, ability to coach and motivate others.
- Strong interpersonal skills supporting collaborative working with colleagues.
- Problem-solving attitude with a high level of responsibility for assigned tasks and projects.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to think strategically.
- Demonstrated competency in engineering specialty area, project management, professional development, client service and leadership.
- Ability to meet deadlines and commitments and holds team accountable for team deadlines.
- Communicates clearly and effectively in one-on-one and in group settings.
- Must be in possession of a valid driver’s licence and have own transport
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) certification or working towards professional registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa will be advantageous
- Postgraduate qualification in Civil Engineering or related field
- Post-graduate qualification in Stormwater Engineering would be advantageous
Working Conditions:
- Work in an office and on construction sites
- May require travel to project sites
- Work on multiple projects simultaneously
