Job Summary
JOB TITLE: Accountant AREA: Kameeldrift INDUSTRY: Clothing manufacturing and branding Salary / CTC: R 30 000 (negotiable, depending on qualifications and experience) Report to: Directors Job Summary: The Accountant will be responsible for managing payroll accounting, ensuring compliance with SARS submissions (including VAT and income tax), compiling financial statements, and preparing management accounts. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. Key Responsibilities Payroll Accounting Manage and process payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulations. Handle payroll-related queries and resolve discrepancies. Maintain payroll records and ensure data integrity. SARS Submissions Prepare and submit VAT returns, ensuring compliance with SARS regulations. Handle income tax calculations and submissions. Stay updated with changes in tax laws and ensure company compliance. Financial Statements Compile and prepare accurate financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement). Ensure all financial statements are in compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Management Accounts Prepare monthly management accounts for internal review. Analyse financial performance and provide insights to management. Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities. General Accounting Duties Manage accounts payable and receivable. Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts. Conduct regular audits to ensure financial accuracy. Maintain the general ledger and ensure proper documentation. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on payroll and tax submissions. CPA or equivalent certification preferred. Skills and Competencies Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Pastel, QuickBooks, or SAP). Advanced MS Excel skills. Strong knowledge of South African tax laws and regulations. Familiarity with SARS eFiling system. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to interpret and analyse financial data accurately. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to explain complex financial information clearly. Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all work. Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently. Strong ethical standards and professionalism. Personal Attributes Integrity and trustworthiness. Proactive and self-motivated. Adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Strong time management skills. Working Conditions Office-based role Standard office hours, with occasional overtime required during peak periods (e.g., financial year-end, tax submission deadlines).
