Job Summary
PURPOSE:
To direct and manage projects. This role will focus primarily on procurement of Mobile Equipment and rebuild of Primary and Secondary mining equipment. To develop project schedules, manage budgets and ensure quality products that meet the clients needs. To manage risk that could impact on project outcomes.
MAJOR CHALLENGES:
Management of contractors
Coordination of resources
Stakeholder engagement with all parties
Managing project delivery to ensure customer satisfaction.
Pro actively manage changes in scope, project risk and diverse contingency plans
Compliance with Exxaro`s Project Management Governance
2. Requirements Profile
2.1 Qualifications
- BEng Engineering/ BTech (Essential/Minimum)
- Certificate in Project Management (Recommended/Desirable)
- Accreditation at Engineering Council of SA (Recommended/ Desirable) PR Eng.
2.2 Experience:
Project Management Experience in Mining or Integrated complex Processing plants
Operational – 5 years Essential / Minimum
Project Management – (Have managed a project above R10m)
Management – 5 years Recommended / Desirable

Title: Project Management
Description
Financial Management
Manage and ensure optimal use of budget allocated to project. Financial authorisations based on delegated signing authority (approved by project steering committee).
Business Performance
Create and execute project work plans and revise accordingly to meet changing needs and requirements of projects.
Identify resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities. Where required, negotiate with functional heads for the acquisition of required human resources for cross-functional expert consultation within Exxaro and externally.
Take action to mitigate and manage risks that can impact on the project.
Effective use of engineering standards, principles and practice for the discipline for the planning, design and implementation of engineering outcomes to support the business unit or specific projects.
Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
Supervise and ensure the execution of projects in adherence to agreed Service Level Agreements (SLA`s) and service delivery standards for all service delivery.
Supervise day-to-day operational aspects of a project.
Compliance, Governance and Assurance
Controls to ensure legal compliance within designated area. Application of controls to ensure legal and best practice compliance in accordance with the MHSA (Mine Health and Safety Act), MPRDA (Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act), OHSA (Occupational Health and Safety Act) where applicable. Implementation of effective SHE management systems for project. Provide and participate in governance systems for best practice. Adhere to the requirements of quality management systems. Ensure compliance to environmental Record of Decision (RoD).
Project Management
Adhere to Project Management Standards. Ensure document control via centralised capturing system specified by Exxaro.
Safe and Healthy Work Environment
Ensure & maintain a healthy environment, safe operations & practices. Responsible for own safety & for the clients. Compliance to all applicable SHE policies & procedures in line with set standards. Report defects & incidents. Ensure good housekeeping principles are upheld in the work place.
Effective People Management
Embrace and live company`s values. Provide inputs for the planning and recommendations for staff to be efficiently deployed and identification of areas of further development (projects and training). Manage project team. Coaching of staff members.
Service Management
Execute responsibilities in a manner that is in accordance with guidelines and standards associated with quality service delivery of project management services and consultation provided by the incumbent, in a manner that is aligned to the services framework and consistent with customer agreements. Identify service performance improvement opportunities associated with area of responsibility. Contribute to gathering of customer feedback as required
Projects
Update knowledge of project management best practice. Participate in the evaluation of discipline-specific standards, principles and practice to enable planning, design and implementation of project outcomes that support the business strategy. Participate in the implementation of appropriate quality management systems to ensure delivery of high quality projects. Contribute to the development and implementation of an appropriate approach to knowledge management for the discipline in line with business needs.
