Job Summary
Responsibilities:
- Welcome and greet customers to the tour
- Inform customers about the itinerary for each tour
- Conduct guided tours, providing visitors with detailed and accurate information about the history, culture, and significance of these locations
- Communicate effectively with visitors, answering questions, providing recommendations, and addressing any concerns they may have during the tour
- Ensure the safety and well-being of the tour group throughout the duration of the tour, providing clear instructions and guidelines to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience
- Provide exceptional customer service, going above and beyond to exceed visitor expectations and create a positive and memorable experience for all participants
- Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor at all times, representing the company in a positive light and promoting a welcoming and inclusive environment
- Handle any unexpected situations or disruptions during the tour, such as inclement weather, equipment malfunctions, or visitor emergencies, with calmness and professionalism
- Collaborate with support staff and management to ensure efficient operations and seamless coordination of tours and activities
Requirements:
- Relevant tertiary qualification as a Cultural Guide
- Proven experience as a tour guide or in a related customer service-oriented role
- Fluent in Afrikaans and English
- Valid first aid certificate
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and captivate audiences of varying sizes and backgrounds.
- Strong interpersonal skills, enabling the tour guide to build rapport and connect with visitors from different cultures and age groups
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills
- Problem-solving skills to address unexpected situations or challenges that may arise during a tour and find suitable solutions
- Flexibility and adaptability to accommodate the varying needs and preferences of visitors, adjusting the tour content or pace as required
