Job Summary
Requirements:
- NDip/BTech (Civil Engineering) – ideal
- Minimum 8+ years` experience road construction materials laboratory testing
- Experience on national roads projects would be an advantage
- Previous experience as senior materials technician or laboratory manager would be beneficial
- Have experience with MS Office Suite
- Driver’s licence essential
Key responsibilities:
- Responsible for acceptance control of construction materials used on site
- Supervision of the client’s acceptance control road materials laboratory on site
- Manage materials testing workflow
- Ensure the site laboratory performs to agreed testing timetable
- Inspection and quality control of the contractor’s works
- Review test results and manage acceptance control process
- Arrange duplicate testing of materials
- Review and provide feedback on mix designs
- Reports directly to the Resident Engineer
- Assist the RE with administrative duties
- Prepare and submit monthly materials and laboratory reports to the RE
- Prepare earthworks and layerworks progress sheets
- Prepare and update materials testing data packs for as-built purposes in accordance with the client’s requirements
