Our client is a leading drilling, blasting, crushing, and screening contractor with its head office located in Johannesburg

Job Description

You will be responsible for:

• 1. Overall Management:
     • As the HEAD OF THE DIVISION, you manage the entire operational, technical, and mechanical functions related to Yellow Metal and White Metal earth-moving equipment.
     • This encompasses maintenance schedules and teams based at the head office.
     • Report writing and submission
  2. Technical Maintenance and Repairs:
     • You`re responsible for overseeing repairs and maintenance on Yellow Metal Equipment (likely referring to heavy machinery used in construction, mining, or similar industries) and White Metal crushing equipment (such as crushers used in mining or aggregate processing).
     • This includes addressing electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic repair work on-site.
     • Ensuring that maintenance plans and schedules are executed promptly is crucial to keep the equipment functioning optimally.
  3. Technical Support and Troubleshooting:
     • You provide technical support when breakdowns occur, either over the phone or by reporting to the site in person.
     • Your ability to understand and explain electrical and hydraulic schematics is essential for effective troubleshooting.
  4. Breakdown Repairs and Downtime Prevention:
     • Immediate attention to breakdown repairs is crucial to minimize downtime in production.
     • You address breakdowns promptly, whether remotely (via phone) or on-site.
  5. Inspection and Planning:
     • Regular plant inspections help identify maintenance needs.
     • You plan for repairs and maintenance using systems like ATK and Wear Check.
  6. Preventative Maintenance:
     • Developing and executing preventative maintenance plans throughout the equipment on-site is vital.
     • This proactive approach helps prevent unexpected failures.
  7. Training and Installation:
     • You train technicians, site management, and operators on proper equipment use and maintenance.
     • Additionally, you facilitate and guide the installation and commissioning of plants as a divisional head, ensuring timely execution aligned with project deadlines.

Will be required to travel to sites across South African and cross border at minimal notice.

It`s an intricate role that requires technical expertise, organizational skills, and effective communication.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering Degree OR related Industrial Degre
• Qualified Diesel Mechanic

Skills

• You should have 10 to 15 years of experience in a similar role.
• Experience managing various sectors of operation and management control.
• Overseeing different aspects of the organization`s functioning.
• In-depth knowledge of the technical aspects of equipment.
• Specific equipment brands mentioned include Metso, Pilot, and Babcock, familiarity with these brands is essential.
• MS Projects would be advantageous.

Salary / Package

R 1,5m neg.
