A trusted and well established client of ours in The Middle East is seeking an experienced Consultant Anaesthesiologist.

Under the general supervision of the Consultant Anaesthesiologist is responsible to provide basic to complex anesthesias services of the highest quality standards, whilst ensuring best possible outcomes for patients at all times; does related or other work as required in accordance with organization`s policies and procedures.

This position is responsible for performing and reporting basic to complex anesthesias services procedures assigned to him/her under the supervision of the Anesthesias Consultant; Responsible in providing high quality, comprehensive, up to date and compassionate anesthesias care to all patients undergoing major surgical interventions including those in critical care areas needing ventilator support and expert management; participates in daily coverage of out of working hours to cater timely response and management of critical and major surgical cases; Provides anaesthesia services including general, spinal, regional and procedural sedation as well as pain management to all patients in need of such.

Primary Duties and

Responsibilities:

• Attend anesthesia ambulatory or emergency cases and arrange for emergency treatment, and specialized
• investigations in preparation for hospital admission.
• Attend and consult on ambulatory and inpatient anesthesia related problems.
• Performs pre-anesthesia assessment and evaluation
• Administer pre-anesthesia medication
• Provides appropriate invasive and non invasive monitoring modalities utilizing current standards and techniques.
• Recognizes abnormal patient response during anesthesia, selecting and implementing corrective action and requesting consultation whenever necessary.
• Performs conscious Sedation Techniques Inside and Outside the Operating Theatre.
• Perform competent Cardiopulmonary resuscitation management.
• Performs all aspects of airway management.
• Performs mechanical ventilation/oxygen therapy.
• Provide services in day-case anesthesia
• Performs timely and appropriate post anesthesia /post operative care/discharge.
• Competent in the management of acute pain.
• Performs competent Hypotensive anesthetic techniques.
• Performs safe anesthesia procedure that includes; Subarachnoid, epidural, caudal, and diagnostic and therapeutic nerve blocks for upper and lower extremities
• Evaluates patient response during emergence from anesthesia and instituting pharmacological or supportive treatment to ensure patient stability during transfer.
• Select, obtain or administer anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, fluids and blood product necessary to manage the patient.
• Lead the team in response to providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and other activities in patients with systemic cardiovascular compromise and participate in audits pertaining to such actions.
• Admission, transfer, and discharge of the patients from the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) in collaboration with the treating physicians and related healthcare providers.
• Maintain timely and accurate medical records.
• Supervising the Registrar and Residents continuously helping them to follow the International Standards in Anesthesia and compliance to the hospital policies.
• Assist and participates in continuous medical education program in anesthesia department.
• Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

• Basic and advanced skills in airway management and maintenance including intubation and mechanical ventilation as well as in crisis scenarios.
• Pharmacological and physiological knowledge in management of patients undergoing anesthesia, pain management, and sedation.
• Mastery in multi system approach in patient`s assessment, monitoring and management coupled with excellent competency on bedside care procedures.
• Working to advance knowledge in the use of anesthesia machines and adjuncts and process connoting the physiology of delivering anesthesia.

Education/Licenses:

• Holder of a Bachelor Degree in medicine and surgery or equivalent, with fellowship or M.D degree
• Licensed by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties as Anesthesia Senior Registrar. (Expat – Company will assist with this)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate and Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and pediatric advanced life support (PALS)
